The Institute for Small Town Studies, Marenisco Township and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp
brought two German Orchestras to the Roosevelt School Auditorium on October 12, 2013.
The Symphonic Wind Orchestra of the Music School of County Alzay-Worms and the
Symphony Orchestra of Lucie-Kolsch Music School of Worms performed in our
newly renovated auditorium. These two orchestras toured America this fall,
with concerts in Washington DC, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan.
Read more about the concert in the Ironwood Daily Globe.

An exciting new program, entitled Place Matters, coordinated by ISTS Research Fellow
B. D. Wortham, places cameras in the hands of elementary school children, asks them to
visually explore their town, and begins a discussion about people, place and community.

In 2005 and 2006, ISTS joined a work crew organized by the Tewecado Trust of Tucson,
Arizona, traveling to the village Cerocahui, Chihuahua, to assist the Catholic orphanage
of the Tewecado Mision with both their restoration projects and their educational mission.

In 2004, ISTS traveled to towns large and small in central Mexico as part of Iowa State
University Wapello Extension's Educational Travel Experience for Community Leaders.
